A Place of
Courageous Hospitality
Hospitality
In July 2007, our parish entered into a Sister Parish relationship with the Maryknoll Sisters in Darien Province in Panama. In this very rural province abutting Columbia, their focus is to care for creation specifically the endangered rain forests in their midst. Parishioners have visited their Pastoral Center in Sante Fe many times since then to support the Maryknoll mission and to develop relationships with our Catholic brothers and sisters. The nine-minute video below provides an overview of our parish’s Sister Parish connection.

Dear Friends in Albany, Greetings to all of you.
Hopefully our letter of gratitude is not too late. Things have been very busy here for us but we definitely welcomed Connie, Dave R. And Dave LF and Eileen’s visit and time with us and everything all of you sent as gifts, greetings, handmade rosaries, funds from your activities but most of all with much love and care. You have been a special part of our mission through the years.
The other day we were reminiscing with Connie and realized that the first visit from St. Vincent’s to Santa Fe was in 2008. While we can measure the time, the quality and growth of our relationship is immeasurable. Since 15 years ago I (Melinda) was 70, that means that I’m getting old! These past two years have brought some health problems for me and I’m slowing down — so, pray that I do that gracefully and at the same time grow in wisdom. Your love and prayer are part of who I am. Thanks to each of you.
This year also there is a new dimension to our relationship specifically involving youth. You all have taken the initiative which happily coincides with the initiative of a professor here in Panama who is organizing the participation of youth here in the Center on a regular basis. If you all can think of some way that the youth can be in direct contact with each other we would be most greatful to try to set something up. Perhaps Mauricio can help with the language.
We have recently enjoyed the visit of Eileen, the two Dave’s and Connie as well as Mauricio last November. We both appreciate and enjoy your presence with us in Darien. Just let us know when you’re coming either as individuals, families or group.
With much love, Joji and Melinda
