Father Ken Himes, OFM will present a four-part series on Catholic Social Teaching via Zoom starting on Wednesday, September 25th at 7PM with the last session on Wednesday, October 16th.
Catholic social teaching usually refers to a body of literature developed in the latter decades of the nineteenth century and continuing to the present papacy of Francis. While the focus has often been on the moral dimension of economic matters there is also a good deal of attention to political issues and increasingly environmental concerns. This four-part series will provide an overview of key themes of the teaching and its historical context. Questions of the usefulness and applicability of the teaching for American Catholics in an election year will also be addressed. Each 90 minute session will have time for lecture and group discussion.
The Zoom link for the series will be sent out after Labor Day. For more information or any questions, please contact Dave Rowell at [email protected] or 518-729-4550.
