The Mass of the Lord’s Supper, which follows the "Bring and Share" feast, calls our attention to the night before Jesus died. The significant element of John’s Gospel, which serves as the touchstone for this liturgy, is Jesus’ mandate to his friends. "As I have done, so you also must do." What Jesus is speaking of is an act of humble service represented by the washing of feet.
It is the custom of St. Vincent’s parish to wash one another’s feet, as we are able. Several stations are set up throughout the church so the process does not take long yet remains very meaningful. By participating in this ritual we acknowledge the presence of Christ in each other. The teens and youth of our parish assist with this ritual, providing basins, warm water and towels.
Rice Bowl donations and donations for the Food Pantry will be collected at this Mass.
