Born in Beijing, China, Tessa found her lifelong passion for piano through her mother’s encouragement, who inspired her to make music with feelings and heart. Tessa began piano lessons at the age of seven and studied with Xinning Zhang one year later. At the age of nine, she entered the Central Conservatory of Music affiliate middle school in Beijing and studied with Hongbo Quan and Mai Su. In 2023, she began her undergraduate studies at the Bard Conservatory of Music under the guidance of Rieko Aizawa. As an experienced recitalist, she made her solo debut in Beijing at the age of twelve and has been invited to perform concerts throughout China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Hangzhou, and Taiyuan. Tessa is a first prize winner of the BIMFA international competition, the first prize in the Chicago international competition, and the first prize in the 30th “Citta di Barletta” international young musician competition. Most recently, she won the Bard’s Concerto competition. Tessa is a recipient of a 2023 Latin GRAMMY Foundation Scholarship.
