Hospitality
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a celebration of God’s forgiving love. As Christians, we are called to live a life of ongoing renewal, always striving to grow in our ability to love both God and our neighbor in the way Jesus taught us. When we fall short or fail to love, we need to turn to God with sorrow, and we need to hear God’s words of forgiveness to know that we are always forgiven. This is what happens in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We are given a fresh start; we become signs of reconciliation and healing for others.
The sacrament can be referred to as the Sacrament of Penance, the Sacrament of Reconciliation or as Confession. All three titles refer to the same sacrament and each emphasizes a different aspect of what occurs in the sacrament.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated weekly on Saturday at 4:45 pm or by appointment.
Communal Celebrations occur twice a year, during Advent and Lent.
Preparation for children celebrating the sacrament for the first time, typically takes place in 2nd grade. See Elementary Faith Formation of contact Ellen Kueterman, Director of Faith Formation, for more information.
Prayerful Examination of Conscience in Preparation for Reconciliation
Lent offers the opportunity to reflect more deeply on the way we live our lives and our commitment to discipleship. Sometimes that reflection leads us to see where we have gone amiss, providing a desire to make things right with the Lord and our neighbor. The Sacrament of Reconciliation can be that occasion.
The following are dates when communal and individual celebrations will be available.
